![]() ![]() When I was Caught In a Web, Miner of the Iron Hills helped me out of that trap. Getting Gleowine out early was really helpful in allowing me to draw an extra card each turn to increase my card pool. Allies give you additional characters to help your Heroes in various phases of the game, but it was the support cards and abilities that played an important part in allowing my characters to progress through the scenario. It was a rough start, but eventually I was able to bring out some allies with enough resources. But then, I'm not a game designer, so I just accept the card draw luck factor as part of the game you're playing against. True, getting bad card draws in any game feels cripplingly unfair, but I honestly don't know how you would go about designing a replayable solo game without some random element to simulate an opponent's surprise moves for the game's AI. Now, I've read a lot of reviews and criticism of games (games in general, not just with Lord of the Rings) that utilize any kind of randomness as not advanced enough for the highly strategic mind of hard core games because they are dependent on luck. I had much better card draws with my second game. Needless to say, with the Heroes having the burden of doing all the work of questing, defense and attack, I lost the first game. I never got to play his action ability and I never pulled Henamarth Riversong (who also lets you look at the Encounter deck) in either of my 2 games with this dual deck.ahhh, for want of a full playset of good cards. But in my first game, I wasn't able to draw any playable allies to support my Heroes, so I had to save Denethor for defense. I was eager to go peaking at the Encounter deck which would enable me to plan the number of characters I can commit to a quest, so I wanted Denethor for my Lore Hero. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost of a precious resource, but you could replenish it when Theodred commits to a quest. I can ready Aragorn after questing which means you can use him in 2 phases per turn. For my Leadership Heroes, Aragorn and Theodred compliment each other's response abilities. Game 22: Loss on Stage 1 due to overwhelming threat. Would the Leadership cards still have a favorable impression on me after some experience with the game? This would be the first time playing Leadership again since when I first started playing the game. The next 3 dual-sphere deck combinations include the Leadership sphere. I've already gone through 3 of the 6 possible dual-sphere combinations: Lore+Spirit, Tactics+Spirit, and Tactics+Lore. To recap, I've played through each of the mono sphere decks, a couple of 2-handed mono sphere games, and am now going through all six dual-sphere deck solo play using only a single core set against the first scenario, Passage Through Mirkwood. ![]()
